At Fledglings we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, EYFS.  This is a 'curriculum' for children from 0 - 5 years old. 

The EYFS supports an integrated approach to early learning and care. It gives all professionals a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.

The EYFS is divided into 7 areas of learning, three prime areas, and four specific ares.

The three prime areas are:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Communication and Language
• Physical Developemnt

The four specific areas are:

• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts and Design

Staff will regularly monitor and observe the children through planned activities and free play, linking these observations to the learning goals set out in the EYFS.  They will then plan new activities for the children to help them achieve their next steps.
